Veeam Backup 6.5 Migration Fails in vSphere 5.1

If you’re running the free version of Veeam Backup and Replication in your lab or production, be aware that the Quick Migration option will not be available IF you have upgraded your virtual hardware to version 9. When trying to start a migration via the Veeam wizard, you will receive a message that the virtual hardware is not compatible with your ESXi hosts.

This is a known bug in the latest Veeam version (6.5) released on Halloween 2012. The current workaround is to use the Restore option, which can copy the entire VM folder and register the machine with vCenter.
